Using Roland EM-303 with borrowed MidiMan (MidiSport?)

I would like to play music on my laptop (Acer TravelMate 5740-6529) using any music player that plays midi files and run it through my Roland EM-303 keyboard for playback, using a USB to midi cable. This works as long as I only send one channel of midi to the keyboard. If I send more than one channel, only one channel will play. I can change all the channels in the music to the same channel, but then, of course, I lose the different instruments.

Does anyone know if I should be able to send more than one channel to the EM-303? Is this a limitation of the keyboard? The cable? My laptop? Any recommendations?

In the Roland's MIDI menu look for a setting for the MIDI channel. Change it from a specific channel to "OMNI" or "ALL".

Gary, My Roland doesn't seem to have a menu, but it does have a manual, which provided the answer. The keyboard can only "hear" channels 1-5,10,16. I was using some channels not on the list. All fixed!

Thanks! I should have thought of the manual sooner.
