There are a few college level textbooks about wave synthesis and vintage synthesizers, but they don't really cover how to play. They are more about sound and waveform design.

On the other hand, there are plenty of books on Music Theory and Piano Method books that will teach you the basics.

I recommend these to start with.

As for technical info on how to control and program a synth? That's what youtube and support forums are for.

I would like to add Michael New's videos on Youtube for learning about music theory: https://www.youtube.com/user/Rhaptapsody/videos
He deserves an oscar in teaching.

Also, for anyone embarking on the mission of learning how to sight-read, I strongly suggest playing along on your keyboards/pianos with the exercises on https://www.sightreadingfactory.com/
Unfortunately there's not yet exercises with gaps above an octave, however it's a great place to start. I've definitely improved the few days I've been using it this week.

Thanks Neutron. I just done the first of 3 Michael News vids on practice. I agree, he is a great teacher. I’m looking forward to the others this afternoon.

Glad to be of help. I watched 3 of his videos today myself; I've been following him for a few years now, haven't stumbled upon anyone who could explain things as good as him.

As I mentioned in another thread.
Could well be my favourite Stones song. . . Currently trying this with right hand. When I perfect it I will look for an appropriate ACMP and add in the chords with left hand.
@CowboyNQ and I breifly discussed these kinds of vids . . They can be rewarding and helpful in reading the sheet music and understanding the timing and song writers intentions.

#4 . . Enjoyment! My fav Commandment
#6 . . Must have a Piano with 88 keys! DUH! He loses credibility here.

The rest are relevant and good advice.
