Fedex arrived today with my Presonus Eris 5. Wow-what a difference from the 3.5
Much better sound. The bass is nice and clear.
Now I understand why these are so popular.

You had a " I gotta see this for myself" moment. :D

Congrats on picking up a set of home monitors that should end up serving you well for the next 20 years or hopefully more.

Some things simply can't be properly explained in words.

That's why I always trust the spec sheets and my own ears. :)

Enjoy the sounds... :)

Now I have to play around with the settings. I am such a noob! Just curious is it better to keep the output gain on the speakers up the volume on the instrument higher? Right now i have the output gain about 1/4 of the way up.

Pleased you are now happy with your system.

As regards gain 1/4 is a good setting, as a rule of thumb up to half you should be OK but at higher settings the design of the Gain circuit becomes more prevalent and artefacts generated by the circuit components could make their presence felt in the output sound.

On my Presonus E5's I have the gain adjusted to about 50-60%.

I control input levels with a small mixer and mainly with the volume controls on the Juno DS.

Like Col. said, anything up to about 50% output power is acceptable.

I can play quietly when need be, as well as cut thru the mix when I really get going.
