I wonder if Korg will use the new PA5x technology in an update to the PA-1000 which I currently use and would vastly appreciate better grand piano sounds...

The OS update to the Pa5X to remove some of the many bugs is supposedly due December 2022.

There have not been any significant updates to the other Pa models despite rumours been a plenty back in 2019 that the Pa4X Next OS would be released in versions for the 700 and 1000.

Any updates on when the Pa5x will be released in the US?... Seems that every other country now has them. I had issues with the Korg Nautilus I bought so sold it about 3 months ago but I just got another. Instead of buying a Pa5x 88, I am now going to get the 76.

No idea, but I suggest you hold off buying until early next year.

The released OS is flaky and really only a Beta, and an update has been indicated by Korg is to be released in December.

Stores here in the UK are only showing PreOrder so it may be a moot point anyway.

Thanks, Biggles, I really appreciate your input. Are you saying it will be an update or a new board entirely?...

Same board updated OS.

I would expect the first update just to be bug fixes.

The missing 5X features v the 4X will probably come at some stage but goodness knows when, it took over four years with the 4X OS before it got the major OS update.

Hmm, that's pretty depressing... I really don't want to have to get a Pa4x or a Genos

There's supposed to be a webinar today, 8 October. Does anyone know if it's going ahead?

The Korg backup or save all process is now on the Korg Forum

Here it is in detail.

Do not forget to Backup your Pa5X BEFORE you update the OS.

This process can also be called “Save All”

It happens every time there is an OS update released, “where is my user data, after I upgraded the OS it has gone”, so please do not be caught out.

I have written a straightforward process which the manual only briefly covers.

With a USB memory stick formatted in the 5X in one of the slots follow this process:-

Press FILE button

Select INTERNAL

Select ALL if it is not highlighted

From the Drop Down Menu, at top right of the screen, select SAVE

A “Save All” pop up then displays, and in the Destination line touch the three dots.

Navigate to the USB memory stick, in my case “Korg USB > Backups” and from the drop down menu in the top right of the screen select CREATE NEW KST

From the pop up tap the T and enter a new name, I use date format i.e 20240707SaveAll.kst

Select SAVE.

You should then see the write process occurring.

Press EXIT button

Press FILE button

Touch DRIVES on the display screen and then UP

Touch USB Memory stick and navigate to the location you selected for the KST file to be stored, in my case KORG USB > BACKUPS.

The KST file should be there.

Job done.

A simple process that will save hours of frustration should you update the OS without performing this “Save All” process.

Tips
Periodically create a SAVE ALL.KST backup file i.e. after adding user data or Songbook entries etc.
Do make a written note in your Pa5X Log Book after making changes, you can then easily ID the KST file against the changes.
