Sending keyboard sounds from computer to sound board

Hello,

I am trying to help keyboard players at my church get more updated sounds coming from our synths.
I have found out how to create those sounds, via Midi messages from the keyboard into a software with plug-ins. The problem is that I can't figure out for the life of me how I should send those sounds from the laptop's output to the sound board (XLR input).

Is it better to send the signal from the headphone jack or USB port? Should it go through a computer DI (like Radial's USB-Pro)? What will generate the highest quality sound?
