USB for Roland FP 50

My Roland FP 50 has a USB port. Is there any way I can use a regular, standard USB stick on the FP 50 or do I really have to use the Roland USB, which costs $175 ?
If I have to use the Roland USB, so be it, but just in case.

A USB memory stick is a USB memory stick.

Plug in any USB memory stick and then Format it in your keyboard, you may need to refer to the manual to find out where the Format routine is located in the menu system.

The only reason that I can think of as why the Roland product is so expensive is that there are other features pre-loaded on their memory stick.
