Please suggest me a 61 Key MIDI controller with pads.

Desired for
  • Live playing mainly
  • Lot of Pads for assigning patches and changing them on the fly
  • Durable, Not plasticky & of nice build quality
  • Nice keys, but aftertouch not essential.
  • Connectivity options
and......
Similar to the price range of M-Audio Code 61 and Roland A 800 pro.

If either M-Audio Code 61 or Roland A 800 pro is considerable, please help for the best pick among both.
I'm a bit confused after some of the youtube videos on both of these.

Many thanks,

Akhil.

Dave >>> I seriously would NOT recommend the PC3LE to anyone.

Kyurzweil just discontinued them last month and during their entire brief 3 year run they were plagued with mysterious "Blinking Lights Of Death" which was never either fully explained or fixed to everyone's satisfaction.

PC3K, PC3x, PC4, any of those are fine. The LE series stood for LEmon ever since day 1. :p

I briefly had a Roland A800 and I did sort of like it especially the key action.

It interfaced with my Windows 8 laptop OK.

On the MAC it was a bit more problematic but following online advice I got it functioning very well.

A change in the settings within the unit then enabled my iPad to see the A800.

I did not set up the controls and gave up trying on the iPad to get the sliders to operate as drawbars in an App.

I returned it and bought a DP instead which works better with my laptop and iPad.

Thank you for sharing the info.

I hope, the A800 pro is durable and best fit for live keys....
