Just bought a Samson Expedition xp106 for my casio keyboard in an outdoor backyard setting. Other instruments in the group are maybe 3 violins, a few guitars. I will not be putting this amp on a pole, will set it on the ground.
Will this work ok?

Yes, but it would give better sound quality if raised off the ground. Try both on the ground and on a table and listen to how the sound quality changes.

Depending on what you are doing with the Samson, it may or may not work for your application. The XP106 is a 100-watt portable unit with a 6" woofer and a tweeter. If you are going to run a lot of instruments into a unit that small, you are certainly going to have to lift it up into the air for the sound to project. If you leave it on the ground, you will enhance the bass response a bit, but intelligibility and projection are going to be much less.

If you are going to only put your Casio keyboard into it, it may work, but you may find that it will not be loud enough, or distort too easily, especially when on the ground. If you are using it for a monitor, then you will likely be ok. If you are using it to project the sound of your keyboard for more people to hear in a band setting, then it may not be sufficient.

Trial and error will certainly be the rule of the day with this :)

Harry
