Footswitch effects on a Korg Krome

Hi Guys. I recently bought a Bass FS-5L footswitch, to try control my rotary speaker effect speed. And for the life of me, I can't get it working. Is anyone familiar with how to do this on a Korg workstation? I turned the footswitch to MM82 in the global settings, and assigned my speed control in the effect to the same. Previously, it was in it's default setting of JS+Y. The switch is lighting up as it turns on and off, but nothing is happening in the sound. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I might have missed? Thanks!
