Hi guys! just thought i'd say hello and give you a quick run down

I'm a fella, 55yrs old and never picked up a keyboard in my life. But now that the kids have grown up and buggered off i'm gonna start a lifetime ambition and hopefully learn to play.
Always been interested in the likes of Kraftwerk, Numan, Jarred and of course Tangerine Dream just to name a few.

So, now's the time to start looking for a good used keyboard, any ideas? Budget of around say £300 - £500

Welcome to the gang.

Are you looking for a more electronic keyboard, or a more piano-like keyboard? Do you want new or are you willing to go for used? Do you want it to have some sort of auto-accompaniment feature?

Have you considered having piano lessons taught by a human being?

Hi'ya Fred Thanks for the reply! well, i've always liked the idea of being able to play a synth, electronic music has always been a mainstay of my listening music genre.
I'm not looking to buy used just yet, i'd rather get some time and experience under my belt first. I've been reading/watching youtube about the the workstations, something along the lines of a Korg Triton Extreme or maybe Roland Fathom.
They all seem way over my head at the mo though, but having said that i think it would be ok to play around with sounds etc while i learn
I've no booked any lessons yet but it's something i will do.

cheers

Hey porn, what board did you go with or are you still wasting thru info? I went with an Alesis Coda Pro on a good deal. I can't report on it yet as it's making its way in the brown try. Should be here tomorrow.

I went for the Korg M1, an older synth but it has been refurbished and still looks brand new. I'm happy with it
Glad to hear.
P.S. In the last 2 weeks, we had stampede events everywhere. I kept seeing Korg in all these country bands. I dont know anything about this brand, not sure why it's so popular among professionals?Any story?
