Trouble with my Kurzweil and sustain pedal

Hello keyboard friends,

I am having trouble with my Kurzweil pc88. When the sustain pedal is plugged in (pedal 1 jack), nothing happens. No sustaining at all. If I unplug it and have no pedal plugged in at all, then the keyboard completely sustains everything all the time. I have tried a hard reset with no success.

I am guessing this must be a problem with the keyboard itself rather than needing to just replace the pedal.

Any suggestions or ideas about this?

Thanks in advance!

This should work.

Turn the machine off, connect the sustain pedal. Turn the keyboard on and don't press anything until it has initialised properly.

Should work now.

If it's still sustaining all the time with or without the pedal then you have an issue and may need to reflash the machine or it could need a physical repair.
