Voice box set up

Hi all!!

Ok so I have been using the vocoda effect on my Roland Juno DS, but it requires set up for each patch to run it and still have keyboard functionality at the same time.

I have been toying with the idea of running a voice box on my second keyboard (VR09) instead as this would mean no mic stand and intrusive mic, but also allow me to switch it on and off at any time without having to set up any patches in advance.

However, I can only find voice boxes with a single mono input, and this is no good as I want to maintain a stereo sound.

Does anyone on here use a voice box or have any weird and wonderful work arounds? Or am I stuck with have to compromise?

I use a Zoom Vocal Processor and of course it is mono. Most mics are mono. Just plug into a mixer and adjust the pan with the mixer controls.

Sorry, I think I might not have explained correctly.

So I have my Roland VR-09 running stereo. I want a way to include a Talk Box into it so have the option to switch it on and off, whilst maintaining the stereo out of my VR09 when the talk box is off.

For example, I am playing organ sounds on the vr09 for part of a song, then I switch to a lead synth on the VR-09 which I want to incorporate the voice box with.

My issue is, the only way I can think to incorporate the voice box is run the keyboard in mono. So VR09 mono out into the voice box, voice box to the mixer. When the voice box in inactive I get my usual synth sound, when active I get the synth using the voice box.

This would work fine, but it would mean losing the quality of a stereo sound when the voice box is not active. I'd like to find a way to have the best of both worlds but I think it may not be possible.

Take the stereo outputs of the keyboard, run them thru a mixer and feed that into the voicebox.

For whatever imagined benefits you might believe that gets you in the final mix.

Just note that Yamaha PSRsx900/s970/s975/s950/s910/PSR3000/all Tyros/Genos include the option to turn vocoder on/off, and with registrations you can turn them on/off with a sequence of soundscapes as well. Korg PA1000/PA900/PA3x/4x/5x also have the ability to turn the harmony on and off with a button; and Korg's harmony works better out of the box (a lot less tweaking to avoid sudden pitch jumps).

WIth the registration sequencing, you can do stuff like this (these are my demos on youtube for Vocoder on a Yamaha arranger)

Bohemian Rhapsody

In the Air Tonight
