alesis qs8 piano sound trouble

My old road dog is the qs8. If it aint broke? recently my piano sounds have died at the upper registry. funky sounds, static... garbage. all other sounds are fine, it is just the piano sounds. I am certain it must be a setting however i can not find it. i need my piano back! help

Back up your settings and perform a factory reset.

If problem persists, then it ain't software.

Given the age of the beast I'm inclined to suspect failing caps on the board.
