Connecting a USB/Midi only keyboard to a MIDI in/out keyboard

Have you ever connected a USB/MIDI only keyboard to a MIDI IN/OUT keyboard using a cable like this:

plus an adapter like that:

Do both(or at least one keyboard) triggers the other keyboard sound?

That setup will NOT work. You need a USB MIDI Host Adapter like one of these instead.

You either pay for an expensive keyboard with proper MIDI ports in the first place or else you end up paying later for a cheap keyboard and the expensive MIDI add on.

Either way, Music ain't cheap

Well... the last keyboard I bought ($40.) has both MIDI in and out. The thing was selling for $600. in the late 90s. By the way, there's also that unit...which is even more expensive but maybe more versatile.

Yeah that would work as well, but if you notice on the page it says it's discontinued.

Also be advised the unit I linked ships with a UK power supply presumably.

It's a niche product either way with limited demand.
