I recently bought a Quik Lok QL/723 three-tier keyboard stand and I’m trying to improve one small aspect of the setup.
I have a Roland Gaia 2 on the middle tier, which I keep tilted at roughly 40°. This angle is actually perfect for playing while seated and gives me very comfortable access to the controls and, more importantly, it is the only practical position I found that is compatible with the geometry of the third tier.
The problem is that the small L-shaped plastic stops at the ends of the support arms are quite short and, since the Gaia has a somewhat rounded bottom/front edge, I’m worried that enough movement could cause it to slide over the stops.
Under normal playing conditions I’m not particularly worried, but I live in an earthquake-prone area, so I’d prefer a more substantial mechanical stop rather than relying only on friction.
Has anyone dealt with something similar? I’d prefer not to drill or permanently modify the stand.
I’ve attached a few photos: first is the actual stop, second one shows how the rounded front/bottom profile of the Gaia does not sit very securely against the original L-shaped stop, and third one shows why I cannot simply reduce the tilt angle: the horizontal arm of the middle tier would interfere with the vertical support of the third tier.
Any ideas or photos of similar setups would be very welcome.
