Playing keys standing up - makes my legs sore

I play keys standing up when practicing and gigging with my band. Our songs require using sustain pedal a lot and after an while standing with most weight on the non-pedaling leg my leg really starts to hurt (esp outside part of lower leg). After a few years doing this I’m getting chronic pain that is driving me to “sit and play” even though I’d rather stand. I’ve tried orthotic shoes and anti-fatigue mats but they haven’t helped.

Has anyone else had this problem? Am I standing or pedaling “wrong”? If you’ve had this problem and found a fix … my kingdom if you’d share it with me!

I'm was a regionally traveling player. I have a bad back, I used to stand and play until about Y2K. Around then I started to play sitting down using a drum throne with back support. Now I wouldnt dare even attempt to stand through a performance. IMHO, sitting is the way to go ....

Personally I would just bite the bullet and sit down. Your health is more important. I play standing myself but if it became physically too hard for me I’d stop tomorrow.
