The BK9 apps haven't been updated in a very long time. Officially, they are only supported up to iOS version 8. I have successfully run them (but not "stress tested" them) on even iOS 16, but they do not run on the iPad I have on 17.

It can be hard to find used iPads that haven't been updated to a recent OS, but my suggestion would be to look for a recent iPad that either hasn't yet been updated to iOS 17 (which is only a few months old), or one of the models that cannot be updated beyond version 16 (or older), from a seller who has a return policy so you can confirm it's working for you.

everymac.com and wikipedia are sources for info about which versions of iOS run on which iPad models.

Now I'm really confused :) So anything under iOS version 8 is good? Thx for your answer. Jim

BK-9 Partner app is for iOS 5.1 through 8

BK-9 Performance Editor app is for iOS 6 and 7, but you can see at https://apps.apple.com/us/app/bk-9-performance-editor/id668979731 it was subsequently updated for iOS 8 as well.

Like I said, I was able to run them through iOS 16, but don't want to promise anything.

You might find some more info at http://www.synthzone.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/forums/38/1/Roland_Arranger_Keyboard_Forum or consider asking a question there as well.
