Now I see people usuing asnd talking about cubase and sonar and stuff like that. Why do I need these programs if my Fantom has all the sequincing power they brag about? I need some help!

Software based digital audio workstations (DAWs) such as
Cubase and Sonar offer digital multi-track audio recording,
editing, and audio manipulation in addition to midi sequencing.
The software based DAW’s have a more graphic interface,
and some people find the software interface easier to use.

If you are only doing some basic sequencing then the
Workstation sequencer may be all you ever want. But if
You want to venture into more complex sequence recording
and editing, or multi-track recording, then a DAW such as
Cubase or Sonar might be something to look into. If you want
To use virtual instruments (VSTI), the Cubase or Sonar are good hosts
For VSTI recording.

I hope this helps show the tip of the iceberg.

You can find some contemporary background on digital recording,
Sonar, midi, virtual instruments., ect in a book called “Home
Recording Power” by Ben Milstead. Barns & Nobles did have this
book in their catalog for about $30.
