I’m trying to send Program Changes from an iPad to Roland Fantom 08 and there doesn’t seem to be any response from the keyboard. I am using the same hardware as with my previous keyboard which worked fine in this regards (iPad --> Camera adapter --> USB cable into the “computer” port of the keyboard).
The settings on the Keyboard’s midi section seem to be set right (Receive PC is on, for example).

I tried setting the “Scene Control Channel” to Midi Ch 1 and the factory setting of 16 and neither seems to do anything.
Any help is appreciated.

Thanks. I tried those, getting the same thing. I’m starting to doubt my hardware. ON another note, do you know where I can find the info for how to translate a Scene on the FA08 to the midi info (msb/lsb)?

I made a third page (this is getting out of hand) with all the LSB, MSB, Bankselect and Program Change data for the 512 different scenes in the Fantom 06/07/08. Hope that helps.
All databases are searchable, sortable, downloadable (CSV, XLS or ODS).

I am trying to send program changes from Ableton to a Fantom 6. however, there is only "Bank" "Sub" and "Pgm".

If I remember correctly, Ableton's "Bank" is the Bank Select MSB and "Sub" is the Bank Select LSB, except you need to add 1 to the MSB and LSB values. For instance, an MSB of 0 would be entered into Ableton as Bank 1, and an LSB of 0 would be entered as Sub 1.

"Pgm" is the Program Change value, which must likewise have 1 added to it, although this really depends on the keyboard since some manufacturers add 1 to the "true" value when printing out their voice lists. That is to say, (for example) the "true" MIDI data value for the Acoustic Grand Piano voice is 0, but this is often listed as 1 in printed voice lists.

Looking at the Fantom Sound List, I can tell that MSB and LSB will need to be increased by 1 when entered into Ableton, whereas PC is already increased by 1 and should entered as listed. For example, Scene A071 ("80s Synth Pop") is listed as MSB 85, LSB 0, PC 71, so I believe you would enter that into Ableton as Bank 86, Sub 1, Pgm 71.
