Get EZ-220 to send MIDI when it plays demo songs

Hello. I'm trying to configure a Yamaha EZ-220 to send MIDI when it plays a demo song, so I can test software and hardware configurations. It's sending MIDI data correctly when I hit the keys, but when it plays the demo songs it doesn't send MIDI. Is there a way to configure the EZ-220 so it sends MIDI data when it plays the demo songs? No, I don't think it's possible to do that. I can't find a statement about it in the EZ-220 owner's manual, but I've seen statements to that effect in the owner's manuals of other Yamaha keyboards.
