Hello,
I have a Yamaha YPT-310. I have a Mac and I can run XP on it using Parallel's Desktop.
I purchased the following MIDI to USB cable from Amazon.com:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0017H4EBG/ref=oss_product
I installed the recommended Yamaha Musicsoft Downloader 5 software.
I plugged the MIDI cables into the back of the keyboard (yes - the "In" and "Out" are plugged into the correct ones) and the other end of the cable into a USB port.
XP recognized a new piece of hardware and installed the drivers successfully.
When I run the Musicsoft Downloader software, it says it can't communicate a musical instrument.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I tried turning the "Local" setting on the keyboard "Off" and that didn't work. I tried setting the keyboard to "PC1" mode, and then "PC2" mode and that didn't work either.
Any suggestions? Thanks! - Jeff
