Korg X5 low battery

I have an ancient Korg X5 keyboard. Today, it displayed a "Low Battery" warning, so I purchased a new lithium CR 2032 battery and watched a youtube video showing how to replace the old battery. Unfortunately, my keyboard is older than the one shown in the video, and when I opened up the case, the old battery seemed to be attached in a way that made removal difficult if not impossible. The old battery seems to be welded into place (though perhaps this is an illusion). Has anyone encountered a similar problem, and does anyone know how to deal with it?

This calls for a bodge modification.

Buy a CR2032 Battery holder with leads like this one.

Then CAREFULLY desolder the spot welded battery from the circuit board and replace it with the holder and the new battery.

Easy peasy and the problem is solved permanently.

Whoops. That particular holder holds two cells for a total of 3 volts. It shouldn't cause a problem but just in case you might want to look for a single cell holder to solder in.

And be sure to insulate any exposed metal with electrical tape or heat shrink tubing to prevent shorts once it's installed.
