Hello everyone, my name is Ron and I am 60 years old.

I have been active in music for 48 years.

I started as a solo keyboard player and later joined a six-piece band where I met my current wife, Gerrie, with whom I have been married for 25 years this year; we have known each other for over 35 years.

Together with her, I formed a duo with which we performed in the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium. In Germany, we performed for 16 years in various hotels in the Sauerland.

We provided music for many events such as weddings, birthdays, corporate parties, and village festivals.

Our repertoire consisted of approximately 450 songs, ranging from ballads to rock, country, oldies, blues, 60s, 70s, and 80s, et cetera.

We recorded various singles with producer Martin Sterken, a few of which were well received in the country music world by UK Country Radio and Eagle Country Radio (Fr), among others. These singles have also been picked up by Unsigned Only (Nashville, USA).

After more than 46 years, we have decided to stop performing live. It took too much energy because we also had regular jobs on the side. Now we enjoy the music in our home studio.

At the moment, I am still playing on a Genos 1, but this will be replaced by a Ketron SD9 at the end of August.

Furthermore, I work with Cubase 15Pro, a Behringer X32 rack, and Sontronic Solo microphones.

I hope to have a fun and educational time here and that I can help others as well.

Regards,

Ron.

Hi Gero

Welcome, and it's always great to see more experienced musicians joining the forum

I'm a 79 year old/ young guy still enjoying putting together music on my fully loaded Korg Pa5X.
I've played many organs in the past, and had Tyros and a Genos 2 keyboard, but sold that one as I just couldn't get on with it.

Welcome.

The Ketron does get great reviews.

Considered one myself but ended up staying with Korg and bought a 5X
Hi Biggles,

thanks for the warm welcome,

Korg is also a great choice.
I've played the PA 2x Pro for a while, great instrument and it's giving me the "live" feeling wile playing it.

Now after coming back to Yamaha with first a psr-sx900 than a T5 76 and now the Genos 1, i'm getting the
same feeling that I've had a few years ago, that Yamaha only polishing the previous version but nothing spectacular in any way.

Ketron is something completely different. On my wihslist is, at this moment the Event but my budget is not allowing that so that's why I choose the SD9 pro first. I've listen to it, live played, and I was blowing away. That sound, the live feeling, et cetera made me decide in seconds to go for it. This is a complet different level than Yamaha, it's much higher.

I know taste is a personal thing and there will be Yamaha players who won't agree with me, but after all these years
playing on stage with all different kind of brands: Korg, Roland, Yamaha, Gem, Kurzweill, Alesis et cetera I think that I will be able to make a well-considered choice and it has nothing to do with the discussion witch brand is "the best"
because there is none.....it's all a matterof personal taste.....nothing more.

I Wish you all the best and lots of fun with the X5.

Hi Bouncingogre,

thanks for the warm welcome.
79 years young....and still playing on a Pa5X, great to read.

Read my reply to Biggels and than you will know why I've made the choice for Ketron.

For what the experienced musicians means.......I'm not a pro, i'm just a musicians who has
done, seen and learned a lot.

Wish you all the best in life and hope that you can enjoy making music for many years......

A few good points you brought up there, and one most of us are in complete agreement with.

It isn't for any of us to knock other models or manufacturers.
We all play what we play. Often as a result of a lot of reading, playing and researching what will suit us best.

I'd love to import a huge Lowrey organ into our house, complete with its matching fat leather adjustable bench.
But then I get real!

So long as we're making music, surely that's what it's all about. Keeping happy!

Ketron in the UK is not well represented.

That said, a 20 minute drive away is Scan Computers which has a Music Instrument Dept and Showroom, it is managed by Adam an ex Korg Sales guy and a face Korg users will recognise from the Webinars that he and Luke used to do. They stock Ketron so in the event of a problem they are not far away.

Then I found this on the Ketron UK website:-
Warranty is directly with us and for three years.
As long as you keep your packaging box we arrange for collection and delivery of your product and will repair (or replaced at our discretion) at an extremely fast turnover and at no cost to you.
If you are a professional musician we will make sure your down time is minimised.

Extended warranty.
For 10% of the original purchase price you can add a further two years warranty to your product at any time during the first three years of ownership.
.
.
Which has to be a first, I wonder what the warranty is in other markets.

I know first hand it costs a packet to send keyboards by a courier even if you can find one who will accept a music keyboard.

Sorry I got a bit off track.
