Fred Coulter
Collector of ancient keyboards
I was at a Renaissance Festival this weekend, and taped a couple of the musical acts. This morning I downloaded the videos to edit into a YouTube video. I have a video camera that's got very good microphones, one that I've never had a problem with.
Except for this weekend's tapes. Turns out that it was windier than usual, and I got massive amounts of wind noise. You could barely hear the bands above the rumble. Just wasn't worth the effort of editing it all down. So I've ordered a windshield for the camera.
If you're going to tape yourself acoustically outdoors, make sure that you've got a windscreen for your microphones. You'd hate to spend a day playing perfectly, and have the entire recording ruined.
Luckily, I was just doing this for fun and relaxation. But I'll get the windscreen before it becomes serious.
