Once you use usb midi you need a host computer. This host is very often a mac or ipad computer (and just to confuse, is built into very few devices that look like hardware alone (iconnect for example))Cannot get Casio kybd to talkto nano bass module.
casio has usb A and usb B, nano has din connections .
my usb/midi adaptors are not working, because I believe they are designed to go one way, Ie start at kybd w/ din ( host ) and go to device, ie computer or module with usb A . Am I correct with that ? Connecting usb to kybd and going to nano module is backward …..correct ?
There has to be a way to do it.
anyway, my nano box does work with direct din to din from a Roland kybd,. But I cannot fig a connection method from Casio kybd usb to nano.
All midi #’s set to 1. Nothing fancy for now. It’s frustrating .
any ideas welcome ,. Thx
Bud
The clue is usually the (printer) cable has the flat midi in one side (A) and the almost square (B) on the other. Also an ipad or iphone host needs care about power and an expensive camera connection kit and a usb hub.
Honestly the simplest and cheapest is to get bluetooth adaptors all around and an old ipad or iphone. I have about 7 of them and can pipe and adjust signal paths and trnaslations on the fly of … pedal boards, keyboard and leskie speaker cab (midi controls the rotor speeds etc). No cabling a d cheap software on ipad where you can aee what is hapoenjng. I use midifire. Recommend midiflow for newbies on ios.
