hullo.

as a complete beginner with MIDI, I've yet to familiarise myself with even the most basic names for the software you use with it. 1stly, I was wondering - can you get a computer program that will let you use a MIDI keyboard to produce sounds from scratch as you are playing them on the Keyboard? without any delay between pressing a key and hearing a sound?

2ndly, if so, what is the name for this type of program?

thanks.

A "soft synth" can do this: the software generates the sound and your keyboard is used as a "MIDI controller". The delay between pressing the key and hearing the sound is called "latency".
