Hey Everyone,

I'm looking for a good synth to add to my keyboard rig. I would rather something with an assortment of nobs and buttons - personal preference.

What do I need the synth to do?
I'm basically after an all-rounder good synth at a reasonable price for gigging purposes and also studio purposes (I am ok with purchasing another synth for the studio).

What I require?
- Descent feeling keys
- Descent sounds, not extremely confusing editing software
- Prefer 49+ keys but open to other options
- Avoid mini-keys if possible.

My ideas so far?
- MicroKorg w/ vocoder (under $600 AU)
- Korg Microstation ($600 AU)
- Roland Ax-Synth ($1200 AU) There is the novelty value with this one!
- Nord Lead/Wave ($2000+ish AU)
- Moog Little Phatty Stage II ($Not sure)
- Dave Smith Prophet or Mopho ($Not sure)
- Moog Voyager XL ($4000 - Save up a bit longer for this?)

Just a note
- I would like to purchase a synth within the next month.
- I plan to get a Moog Voyager XL or its replacement in the future anyway, not sure whether I should save up for this one or not yet.

So here is some info you should know in order to help me.
- Gigging musician.
- Trying to start my own studio.
- Getting into composing my own stuff and with bands.
- Composes keys parts for other people.

The equipment I have:
- Roland RD-700GX.
- M-Audio Axium61.
- M-Audio Keystation 61es.
- Music Production Programs (Including MainStage, Logic, Protools, etc)

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thank you ,
Joshua

Just a suggestion if yer on a budget. Take a look at the Casio XW-P1 or XW-G1 or PX-5S.

Casio's doing some pretty impressive stuff on a budget these days.

BTW, I've owned a Microkorg XL. I traded mine in for an XW-P1. Much better bang for the buck and no stupid mini keys.
